For this course, we were expected to create an original pattern collection around the given theme: Supernatural Naturalist. This project looks into magical and supernatural as a starting inspiration for a series of motifs, inspired by animals and fantastical associations and how they relate to climate change
I decided to focus on a dystopian futuristic setting that focuses on the evolution of animals through body augmentations to ensure their survival on this planet. Animals face new challenges for their survival because of the unprecedented rate of climate change. To ensure their continuity, physical enhancements and genetic modifications are made to these animals. This enhances their physical capabilities, making them more resilient to any change that may come their way. To showcase this, I adopted a scifi/cyberpunk look for my animal illustrations and depicted the setting with colourful planets.
My final works were hung in the lobby of the School of Art, Design, and Media (ADM, NTU) and were showcased on a digital screen on NTU's North Spine.
